Ptolemaios Armaos main academic background is in the classical guitar. He holds a degree (Athens Conservatory) with Prof. Elena Papandreou as well as a bachelor’s and Master’s degree (with Prof. Roberto Aussel) at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and a Master's Degree in chamber music (with Prof. Hans-Werner Huppertz). During his studies he has been granted scholarships from the Achillopoulion Foundation and the Onassis Foundation. He has received awards and distinctions in international competitions as a soloist (Greece, Germany, Serbia etc.) and with groups.
Traditional music from various regions (Greece, Spain, Brazil, Mali and many more) have been a major part of his “musical home”. Collaborations with folk musicians, implementing traditional instruments in modern forms etc. are very substantial and characteristic in his music.
The teenager will live on forever! Some of the styles that have marked most of the people in the western world, specially through school years are a constant source of inspiration for Armaos’ music.
Through his years in Cologne, Ptolemaios has dived into the experimental “new” music world, mainly with the Cologne Guitar Quartet, where he got the opportunity to get to know numerous techniques and sounds on the guitar and other instruments.

Ptolemaios Armaos (Athens 1993), holds a degree in Classical Guitar (Athens Conservatory) with Prof. Elena Papandreou as well as a bachelor’s and Master’s degree (with Prof. Roberto Aussel) at the Cologne University of Music and Dance and a Master's Degree in chamber music (with Prof. Hans-Werner Huppertz). He has received awards and distinctions in international competitions as a soloist (Greece, Germany, Serbia etc.) and with groups, like: the Cologne Guitar Quartet (1st prize in interpretation of modern music in Karlsruhe in 2015), and the Armaos Rastani duo (Creole World Music).
He operates professionally within and outside of Europe collaborating with prestigious musicians and orchestras. As a solo artist he has released several singles of various music styles. With the Cologne Guitar Quartet he has released 2 CDs: "Phasma" with works by contemporary composers (Feliu Gasull, G. F. Haas, Mayako Kubo) and "Routes", which presents songs from different cultures.
